Boring

I’ve been the boring type lately
Seriously.
Sleepwalking through life.
I think I’m getting a bit more interesting (and interested) though.

On a random note: I have ten more days of teaching left before christmas. Not that I’m counting or anything…

  • I complained about Mondays earlier this week. Well, I cannot complain about Fridays. I have no classes to teach so I can stay at home, sleep in and do some preparing and grading.  Which is what I did today. I’m about halfway through a stack of grammar exams that need to be graded.  Yay.
Well, I like grammar. So it’s fine.
  • My toes are cold – they have been freezing all day. It’s so cold outside!
  • Tomorrow: thanksgiving! OK, I know it’s not until next Thursday but me and my friends are doing Thanksgiving tomorrow. My friend’s coworker asked her why on earth we were taking up this American custom. Well, why not? It’s simply a fun excuse to do something with our friends; eat good food and have fun. We did this last year and it was a success so I think we have established a tradition.
  • This week’s discovery: every “The Unbelivable Truth” episode ever on Youtube. I love you YouTube. And I do love Radio 4. David Mitchell is a favourite too.

And these were the random thought of today!

Hello November!

I know it’s a cliché – but time really flies!
Today was the last day of the mid-term break. Four great, relaxing days. Tomorrow it’s back to reality.
I’m gonna try not to get swamped in work in this second half of term – like in the first half of the term.
Optimistic much?
I actually had imagined that being a working girl would be a whole lot easier than being a university student. I pictured myself doing all sorts of stuff: knitting, running, playing my instruments and stuff. But so far I’ve been working most of the time. I feel like a student – I always have homework! As this is my first year teaching I’m reading everything for the first time just like my students. And then there’s the making of assignments, grading assignments and just generally trying to figure what the f*** I’m doing!

Yes, the exciting  life of an English teacher!
I like it though. This is a challenging project but a fun one.

And there is lot of fun stuff in store for November!

Status update

Hometown tomorrow. Can’t wait to get out of this “city”.
I hesitate to call Reykjavik a city, it just isn’t one…
So, I’ll be here:

Hooome.
Although the weather probably won’t be as lovely as in the picture.
I’m going to take a break from thesis/work worries this weekend. At least for a day!

Thesis status: 1000 words down. Which means I’ve finished about 1/8 of the essay…
Oh, well.

Today is Wednesday

A bleak mood reigns.
I have had to change socks about 4 times today, due to holes and sauce spilling on socks.
I think that know-it-all twats with fake american accents should not be allowed to come to lectures.
I have for some reason travelled back to the 90’s musicwise. Nonstop Britpop at my house today.
Blur. Suede. Pulp. Oasis.

And I’m unable of writing a coherent text.

Blaaaah

Le fabuleux destin d’Amélie Poulain

Le fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain
It’s been way too long since I last saw Amélie.
That movie always makes me smile. And the soundtrack is a favorite. Just wonderful.
Soon. Very soon.
